O número de cidadãos de Hong Kong que se mudaram para Taiwan atingiu um novo recorde em 2021, no meio da crescente tomada do poder pela China na antiga colónia britânica, indicam números oficiais divulgados em Taipé. Australia will introduce two permanent residence visas for Hong Kong citizens who have been living in Australia, the government said on Monday. “Hong Kong em 2020: A lei de segurança nacional e a autonomia truncada” é o nome do artigo escrito por Sonny Lo e publicado na edição de Fevereiro da revista Asian Survey, da Universidade da Califórnia. No documento, o professor de Ciência Política e especialista em assuntos de Hong Kong e Macau, diz que a lei imposta por Pequim à região vizinha veio reduzir a sua autonomia. Ao PONTO FINAL, Lo acrescentou que, apesar de reduzida, a autonomia de Hong Kong não está em risco. A girl who was reportedly out buying stationery supplies with her mum was filmed being thrown to the floor by police during pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. The child, 12, is said to have needed paint to complete her homework, but was tackled by riot police after running away. Police said: ‘During the interaction she suddenly ran away in a suspicious manner. Hong Kong is dead—or at least, the rule of law and civil liberties there is. The imposition of China’s wide-ranging national security law, enforced by mainland security agents empowered to drag suspects off to the mainland for trial, makes any criticism of both the Hong Kong and Chinese governments deeply dangerous.
